More information : (TA 4066 1155) Lozenge Pillbox, Easington
(see TA 14 NE 16 for full description)
This lozenge style pillbox was situated to the seaward end of an anti -tank ditch. The building formed part of the defences of the Spurn Point batteries and was built from re-inforced concrete. The site was plotted from aerial photographs by the Fortress Studies Group. The pillbox was not, however, visited during the Holderness Survey so its present condition is unknown.(1-1a)
The monument is also visible as an upstanding structure on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives in situ.(2)
