Summary : A large Bronze Age bowl barrow forming part of the Cow Down Barrow Cemetery. The barrow was designated as Collingbourne Ducis 8a by Grinsell (1957) and survives as an earthwork 22 metres in diameter and 0.4 metres high. The ditch is just visible and can be seen on aerial photographs. The barrow is overlapped by smaller barrow (Monument HOB UID 926202 - SU 25 SW 181). Excavations by W.C Lukis in 1855 recovered Bronze Age pottery.

(1) Barrow A1: SU 22745142, Collingbourne Ducis 8a, a large ploughed barrow overlapped by a smaller one (Monument UID 926202 - SU 25 SW 181) (2). Excavations by W.C Lukis (Barrow WCL 1) recovered probable beaker and urn sherds (3). Cropmarks of overlapping ditches visible. (4) Barrow A1: Collingbourne Ducis 8a, a bowl barrow under plough. Mound 0.4 metres high, ditch only visible on Ordnance Survey aerial photographs as a soil mark. Surveyed at 1:2500. (5-6) Originally recorded as Collingbourne Ducis 8a by Goddard. (7) A low bowl or double barrow , reduced by ploughing , ditch just visible. The mound is now 22 metres in diameter but originally was 28 metres. (8)
