More information : SU 21695208: Collingbourne Kingston 24, a bowl barrow 11 paces in diameter 1ft high. Shown on Colt Hoare's Map of Chidbury Camp. (1) The barrow was excavated by Thomas (Barrow 9, site XIV) who located a cremation accompanied by a flint scraper. No barrow ditch was located. A number of stake and post holes were noted beneath the barrow, they did not form any apparent pattern and were found outside the limits of the barrow. These have been interpreted by Thomas as an earlier occupation site. It cannot be discounted that these may have belonged to an earlier pre-mound phase of the barrow. Finds including Beaker pottery and flint implements were also recovered. (2-3)
