Summary : Gateway to Norwich Cathedral Close. Built circa 1316 with the chapel of St Ethelbert over the gateway.
More information : (TG 23400876) ST ETHELBERT'S GATE & CHAPEL (NR) (1) Built circa 1316 and its top parts were heavily restored by William Wilkins in the 19th century. It is of 2 storeys flint and ashlar, the chapel of St. Ethelbert, over the gateway, was built to replace the church destroyed in the riot of 1272. Grade I.(2,3) Gateway in excellent condition. Chapel not in use. See Ground Photographs) (4) Gateway with former chapel above now used as a classroom. (5)
