Precinct wall to Cathedral Close, C13th and later with much C18th and C19th rebuilding. Brick, flint and rubble with tiled coping. Wall survives on east side between Erphingham Gate (TG 20 NW 342) and St Ethelbert's Gate (TG 20 NW 338) and partially to the north from the Bishop's Great Gate (TG 20 NW 340) and partially to the south along St Faith's lane. Water Gate survives (TG 20 NW 341) and the sites of two further gates are known (TG 20 NW 343 & 344). (3) |
