More information : Barrow 21. (1) SU 21875210: Collingbourne Kingston 18, a disc barrow, mound 33ft in diameter x 1.5ft high, berm 27ft wide, ditch 15ft wide x 6ins. deep, outer bank 15ft wide x 6ins high. A second tump, placed on the east part of the berm measured 21ft in diameter x 1.5ft high. Investigated by Colt Hoare who located nothing, stating that it had already been robbed. (2)
The barrow was excavated in 1953 by Thomas (Site I) who located a central burial pit containing a cremation beneath the central mound. Another cremation, accompanied by a bronze awl, was located to the south east. The other mound covered an oval pit containing at least two cremations. A pit containing the remains of a cremation was located west of the central mound. (3)
The dimensions given for the barrow are substantially correct. OS 1:2500 survey revised. (4)
