This site was mapped from Air Photographs supplemented by survey information derived from O.S. maps (1:10,000). The following features were identified:-
Earthwork bell pits of Post Medieval date seen as four small (1-4m) round positive features, in a linear pattern. Centred at:-SK 3773 2161 Additional NGR's: SK 3767 2165 SK 3772 2156 SK 3778 2154 (Morph No. FR.182.4.8)
Probable earthwork tramway of Post Medieval date seen as a discontinuous single linear feature defined by 1 stone foundation, with a maximum length of 1350m. This feature could be part of a coach road associated with Staunton Harold Hall (SK 32 SE 20). Centred at:-SK 3775 2157 Additional NGR's: SK 3781 2192 SK 3764 2175 SK 3787 2118 (Morph No. FR.182.4.9)
Probable earthwork leat of Post Medieval date seen as a single linear feature defined by 1 ditch, 2 banks, with a maximum length of 360m. Centred at:-SK 3778 2156 Additional NGR's: SK 3769 2167 SK 3793 2146 (Morph No. FR.182.4.10)
Probable earthwork leat of Post Medieval date seen as an interrupted single linear feature defined by 1 ditch, 2 banks, with a maximum length of 360m. Centred at:-SK 3795 2139 Additional NGR's: SK 3786 2149 SK 3796 2124 (Morph No. FR.182.4.11)
Eight earthwork limestone quarries of Post Medieval date seen as negative features of varying sizes centered at SK 3756 2174. (Morph No. FR.182.4.1 - 4.7 and 4.12). (6)
The four bell pits of authority 6 (FR.182.4.8) are shallow depressions with slight upcast banks around them, roughly 3m to 4m across. It is possible that instead of bell pits they are medieval or early post-medieval shafts. The tramway (FR.182.4.9) is a low, grassy bank 3m wide; there is no evidence of rails and sleepers. The two leats (FR.182.4.10-11) are ditch features with upcast banks to either side. (7)
