Early 19th century limekilns at Ticknall, disused, served by the Ticknall Tramway (LIN 188).
More information :
SK 361239? Complex of limekilns of early 19th century dates
around the Ticknall tramways. Two horseshoes of 8 kilns each
were constructed into the tramway embankment. (1)
There are still four sets of limekilns along the Ashby Canal and
its tramways. The largest and best preserved group are in the
quarries at Ticknall where there are fourteen, some in very good
condition.

SK 35852374 on OS 6" 1887). (2)

Quarries (NAT) (SK 32 SE 48) and served by Tramway (NAT) (see

The limekilns were not visible on available air photographs because
they were masked by trees. The quarries are described in SK 32 SE 48. (8)
