Summary : World War I blockhouse constructed circa 1915, and other military buildings, Spurn Point. It remained part of the battery defences through World Wars I and II.

This large World War I blockhouse provided flanking fire along the
sea wall, and so was an integral part of the Spurn Defences. The
building had large embrasures, and was equipped with a cradle for a machine gun. The site was built in around 1915, but continued in use until the end of the Second World War. (1-1a)

This monument and other military buildings of unknown function are visible as upstanding structures on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. (2)
