This low single storey troop shelter was built for the protection of
the troops at the First World War Green battery. Built in around
1916, the shelter is of simple concrete construction, and, when it
was visited in 1992 by the Fortress Studies Group, was in poor
condition. The FSG also considered the site to be at risk from
coastal erosion and blown sand. (1-1a)
The monument and other military buildings of unknown function are visible as upstanding structures on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. (2)
