More information : (TA 2172 4550) Rifle range. This rifle range, one of two associated to the nearby Rolston Camp training facility, was situated to the south of the main camp complex. It took the form of numerous firing points and a firing butt, all of earthwork construction. The site was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945 by the Fortress Studies Group. They also visited the site in 1992 during the Holderness Survey, and found that no trace of the site remained. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as earthworks on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion part of the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
