More information : TA 2112 4737/2115 4723. Anti-tank cubes. These three rows of anti-tank cubes, constructed of reinforced concrete, were intended to channel enemy forces into highly defended areas of the beach. They were positioned to form a barrier at the top of the beach which tanks would have to go round. The site was plotted from aerial photographs dated 1945 by the Fortress Studies Group, but when they visited the site in 1992 during the Holderness Survey, they found that no trace of the site remained. (1-1a)
The monument is also visible as upstanding structures on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
