Summary : World War II weapons pit/trench, Hornsea. Plotted from aerial photographs, but now totally destroyed.

This possible weapons pit, or infantry trench was situated near the
centre of Hornsea. It was an earthwork construction, which was
plotted from aerial photographs by the Fortress Studies Group. The Fortress Studies Group also visited the site in 1992, but found that it had been completely destroyed. (1-1a)

The monument is also visible as earthworks on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. The features appear to be surrounded by a barbed wire perimeter. (1a)

Possible weapons pit or infantry trench situated near the centre of Hornsea. It was an earthwork construction, destroyed by 1992. (2)
