More information : TA 2138 4638. Square Pillbox (for a full description see TA 15 SE 45) This small square pillbox was situated to the south of Hornsea. It was a brick and concrete built structure, which was plotted by the Fortress Studies Group from aerial photographs dated 1945. The FSG also visited the site as part of the Holderness Survey in 1992, they found the site to have been totally destroyed.(1-1a)
The monument is also visible as an upstanding structure on air photographs examined as part of the Rapid Coastal Assessment Survey of the Yorkshire and Humber Estuary. Due to coastal erosion the monument no longer survives in situ. (2)
