Summary : Neolithic occupation site in Corner Field, Rudston Wold. Five pits (Corner Field Sites 2,6,8 and 11) containing pottery, flint implements and animal bones have been excavated. Pits 2,6, 7 and 8 are to the west of Rudston Cursus A, but pit 11 was between the banks of the cursus 600ft north of the terminus. A patch of brown soil filling a slight hollow in the surface of the natural chalk was exposed by ploughing. Sherds, flint and a few animal bones were recovered from the pit. |
More information : Neolithic occupation centred on TA 097 657. Five sites listed as Corner Field Sites 2, 6, 7, 8, and 11. Pits containing Grimston, Rudston and Peterborough Ware pottery, flint implements including arrowheads, scrapers and knives. Also some stone and animal bones.(1) |
