Summary : Destroyed by the sea in the 15th century. Listed as a Benedictine alien cell of Aumale Abbey.
More information : Medieval parish church at Withernsea, named around 1160 as St. Mary's was destroyed by the sea in the 15th century. (1-2) Withernsea church was included in the grant of Stephen, Count of Albemarle to Aumale Abbey in 1115. The prior of 'Witherness' is recorded c. 1210. Listed under Benedictine Alien Cells. (3-4) Medieval parish church at Withernsea, named around 1160 as St Mary's was destroyed by the sea in the 15th century.
