Summary : Cairn on Crownhill Down. Apart from groups of small boulders and stones the only feature in this area is a stony mound used as a boundary mereing at SX56265981 which is labelled on the Ordnance Survey maps as 'a pile of stones'

A Bronze Age cairn was discovered in the southern part of Crownhill Down. (No other details). (1)

The cairn noted at this grid reference was not identified. The area lies in open, close-cropped turf moorland with stands of mature gorse. There are numerous groups of small boulders and stones especially where the turf layer is particularly sparse. One stony mound at SX56265981 is used as a boundary mereing and is labelled 'pile of stones' on the Ordnance Survey 25" scale plan. (2)
