Summary : Earthwork enclosures in the vicinity of a possible Medieval Gilbertine Grange.
More information : TF 116995. Nettleton Grange (Farm) (NAT) (1) Three large closes forming a separate block of old enclosures S of Nettleton shrunken village (see TA 10 SW 39) and extending to 18 ha are probably Sixhills Priory's grange in Nettleton (a). The farm within them is Nettleton Grange and the lane serving them was Grange Road in 1795. (2) In addition to the enclosures described by authority 2 there are three rectilinear enclosures visible as earthworks to the south west of Nettleton Grange farm at TF 1156 9945. They were mapped from poor quality air photographs and each have a width of 23m. They may relate to the Gilbertine Grange described by the previous authorities. (Morph No. LI.237.14.1).
