More information : SE 834022 Settlement of Susworth is documented by name at least from about 1200, but is never separately assessed in taxation and related documents. In form it closely resembles other Trentside settlements N of Gainsborough, its layout reflecting dependence on the river and its function as a staith, with a single street along the river bank and properties facing its E side only. Part of the settlement was formerly reckoned a detached portion of East Ferry. (1) |
