Conduit Springs

Summary : Conduit house built in the 14th century, measuring 3.5 metres long by 2.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres high with a doorway in the west end. Water rises from the back wall and flows into a tank, it then overflows and drains through the doorway to form a small stream. Scheduled and listed.
More information : ST 92445300. Conduit Springs (NAT) (1). A licence for conveying water by conduit to the monastry was granted in 1362, the water now flows into an open ditch. (2) A conduit head (spring) built into the bank, a small stone vaulted cell, 14th century. Grade 1 (3) The stone vaulted conduit head, measuring 2.5m by 1.5m, 2.5m high with a doorway in the west end which encloses the head spring at ST 92445298. (4) No Cange. Grade I (5)
