Bawdsey Manor country house, built ca.1895 with additions of 1908. Built for, and possibly by, Cuthbert Quilter with advice from Perry MacQuoid in the Jacobean style and style of Francois I.
It was at Bawdsey in 1936 that Robert Watson-Watt and his team developed radar.Grade II*. (2)
Country house built circa 1895 with additions of 1908. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and Portland stone ashlar. It comprises two storeys with projecting three storey towers with corner turrets which rise to a fourth storey. From 1937 the house was used by the Air Ministry as a research station for the development of radar (See TM 33 NW 69 and TM 33 NW 70). The building is now (2000) in use as a language school. (3)
