More information : TG51841225. In 1954, Charles Green, for the Ministry of Works, excavated an area South of the Roman town and located some 150 inhumation burials dating from the C7th-C9th. Grave goods were almost entirely lacking. There were also at least a dozen `pseudo ship burials'. Previously, in 1932, a base silver sceatta was found in cutting a trench in the main street. It was probably minted in Frisia in the C7th or C8th.
