A Royal Navy sloop of war, built at Greenwich and launched on 24-MAR-1750, which drove ashore in a gale and was wrecked. (4)
Of the warships mentioned earlier foul of the Torbay area, the first was the 8-gun sloop o'war SAVAGE of 144 tons, ashore Feb 1762 near Roundham Head. The small inlet in which the wreck took place is known today as Savage Cove but anything that remains will be well buried under the sand. (5)
