Portland Inner Breakwater

Summary : Part of the Portland Breakwater constructed between 1849 and 1872. It is 1700 feet long and has a series of casemates facing in towards the harbour. It terminates in a small fort at the south ship channel end. It is probably here that a 12-pounder, 12-hundredweight ,gun heavy anti-aircraft gun was mounted in 1917.

The Inner Breakwater (HM Naval Base). Construction begun in 1849 and was completed in 1872. It is 1700 feet long and has a series of casemates facing in towards the harbour. It terminates in a small fort at the South Ship Channel end. Grade II. (2)
