Summary : Founded in 1254, Thomas Earl of Lancaster enlarged it in 1304. It was apparently dedicated to St Catherine. Leland reported that the church was cruciform in plan. The friary surrendered in November 1538. A substantial East-West wall, probably the South wall of the conventual church, and traces of the West range of the cloister, has been located in excavations. |
