More information : (TA 16115790) British & Roman pottery found AD 1885. (NAT) (1) In 1885 Mr Boynton discovered on his farm six miles S of Bessingby, a filled-in trench apparently the vallum of a small Ro camp. It contained animal bones and great numbers of fragments of all kinds of Roman pottery. (2) The site where British and Roman pottery were found AD 1885. (No trace on 1946 RAF APs of earthworks in this area). (3) No further information. (4)
