Hall Garth: The provost court or court of Bedern, was formerly held here. The gaol of the provostry was attached to it. The manorial courts are still held in it. The building, which is now an inn, is situated near the minster opposite the south transept. There are remains of the old court and gaol. (2)
All that remains of the moat is a fragment of the scarp, 0.6m high, at the south east angle.
A modern ditch, which formerly traversed what was probably the
eastern arm, has been largely in filled.
The western arm is defined by a non-surveyable shallow depression
along the eastside of Long Lane.
The building referred to by authority (2) has been demolished.
A 25" survey has been made of the remains of the moat. (3)
1980 excavation revealed part of a timber bridge over the moat, probably of an early 14th century date. (4-5)

The moat is visible as an earthwork on air photographs. Only part of the eastern side of the moat was visible and other earthworks within it were too amorphous to depict. In the south-east corner is a rectilinear arrangement of banks which may represent a building.
