Summary : A Roman beehive quern and pottery were recovered during clay extraction.
More information : Roman finds from Barton upon Humber in Hull Museum include: A beehive quern of gritty sandstone, dome-shaped 13" wide, with a cavity extending from the top to the flat bottom. Found when clay was being excavated for the making of cement.(1) A vase and specimens of Samian ware.(2) The spout of a terra cotta jug in the form of a woman's head found during excavations near Barton. (1-3) Location confirmed, siting not established. (4)
