MOAT HILL

DESCRIPTION + /

A medieval moat and associated field boundaries and drains are visible as earthworks on air photographs. Excavations carried out in the 1950s located a building and occupation debris suggesting a 14th century date. A 4th century Roman coin was also found. Documentary sources suggest there may have been an outer moat.
