SJ 9765 7879. Bowl barrow at Charles Head. Scheduled RSM No 23613. A bowl barrow located on the crest of a ridge 260m WNW of Charles Head Farm. It comprises an oval mound of earth and stones up to 1.3m high with maximum dimensions of 14.5m by 13m. The barrow is crossed by a drystone wall, to the N of which is a central rectangular hollow and linear trench indicating unrecorded limited excavation (3).
The Bronze Age bowl barrow was visible as an earthwork mound on 2010 Google Earth imagery and appears extant on the latest 2011 vertical photography. It was mapped as part of the Cheshire National Mapping Programme project (4-5).
