Described as a monastic cell by A.L.Humphreys, in East Hendred (1923). Sheen owned an important manor and had a chapel here, but it appears to have ranked as a grange (income over #36 in 1535); it is most improbable that monks were ever resident, though a few lay-brothers with a secular chaplain were possibly sent here.
