Summary : A hoard of nearly 2500 antoniniani (Valerian to Probus AD 253- 282) was found in January 1957 by ploughman, Mr S Froehling, on Woolstencroft Farm, Agden. The coins were contained in a jar, the upper half of which had been destroyed. The cleaned coins and restored jar are in the Grosvenor Museum, Chester. More coins, which may have come from this hoard, were found c.1975. |

A further twenty-seven antoniniani representing part of the hoard found on Woolstencroft Farm in 1957, have come to notice. The coins date between 253 and 273 AD (3). An antoninianus of Gallienus and one of Salonina, probably from the Agden hoard, "found in Henbury area" (4). (3-4) |
