A probable castle mound, 12 foot high, flat topped with a very shallow flat bottomed ditch and a slight counter-scarp bank - no trace of a bailey. It is quite distinct and unconnected with the adjacent moat. (2-3)
The moated motte at SJ 59743588 consists of a flat topped mount 2.2 metres high and 30.0 metres in diameter, surrounded by a wide ditch 1.2 metres deep. The motte has been slightly mutilated on its south side. Resurveyed at 1:2500. (4)
The motte is tree-covered, and set in improved pasture land. The ditch is in the ploughed area, but is still visible encircling the motte, about 25cm. deep, and 3m. wide on the south, deepening to circa 0.5m. on the north. The motte is broad and flat-topped. An ancient disturbance on the south side has removed some material, but condition otherwise good. No sign of bailey. (5) No change. Published Survey (1:2500) correct. (6)
