Shropshire
Oswestry

Summary : A Secular College is recorded at Oswestry, possibly at St Oswald's Church,(SJ22NE26), although a tradition suggests that it may have been at Whitchurch, extant in 1066 and given to Shrewsbury Abbey circa 1085.
More information : The foundation of St Oswalds church (present site: SJ 28882937) is of very early date. As a collegiate establishment it was given before 1085 to the newly founded Abbey of Shrewsbury.
