More information : SE 923312. A small square of tessellated pavement, of identical design to a panel from the Roman villa at Greetwell (SK 97 SE 10), was found at South Cave and is now in private possession. (1)
HU 21 Listed as a possible villa site. While excavating the Market Place for gas pipes in 1913, workmen found a pavement extending across the road at a depth of 2 feet. A similar pavement was found c10 yards from this. Possibly part of the Roman road from Brough. A square of this pavement was of identical design to a panel from the Roman villa at Greetwell. (2)
