Welton Wold Villa (SE 974279). The dwelling house proved to be very small (19.4m by 18.4m) with a symmetrical plan consisting of a row of five rooms and a rear corridor (with no remaining floor levels), built on the western side of a 60m by 60m ditched enclosure. Occupation extended from early 2nd century to circa AD 340. Other associated building found were three timber barns and a circular hut. Twenty five scattered burials, extending from late Iron Age to 4th century, were also found. A complex of buildings and enclosures, covering about 20 acres, surround the main enclosure. The site overlays Iron Age occupation and is overlaid by rig and furrow. (2-4)
HU 22 A simple native farmhouse was demolished cAD 100 and a small Roman corridor house built. It was demolished cAD 340, but since occupation continued on the site until at least AD 400, there may be another house as yet undiscovered. (5)
