ROSEDALE ABBEY

DESCRIPTION + /

The Priory of St Mary and St Laurence, a Cistercian nunnery founded before 1158 and dissolved in 1535. The only remains are an angle buttress and a spiral staircase, which were probably the south-west angle of the south transept. The staircase is visible as a ruined building on air photographs and was mapped as part of the North York Moors NMP. The feature is extant on the latest 2009 vertical photography.
