More information : SE 783 613. A motte and bailey was located and surveyed by H G Ramm. The bailey is about 200ft by 80ft, and stone structures have been identified. (1)
Motte and Bailey situated at SE 7836 6135 on the western extremity of an east-west ridge, and formed by two simple transverse ditches. One ditch cuts off the naturally rounded ridge, which is artificially raised some 1-2 metre by the upcast, to provide the motte. The other ditch marks the eastern extent of the bailey, which has no other enclosing feature. Surveyed at 1:2500. (2)
