Summary : A moated site at the eastern end of the village of Skirpenbeck. The site is large and complex, and lies within a wider group which included fishponds and a series of water management channels. Aerial photographs taken in 1997 show only the central moat survives. Possible site of a fortified house.

A complicated design in which advantage has been taken of a stream to form a series of wet ditches. The central island, some 2 1/4 acres, is some 10-12 feet above the ditch, and was approached by a causeway East of the church. Mentioned in the reign of Edward I. (2)

The moated area has been drained and most of the ditches filled in. All buildings on the central island are modern.
