More information : [SE 7715 1298] at St. Oswalds church, Crowle, a lintel in the Norman doorway leading from the tower to the nave, when removed was found to be sculptured and to have a Runic inscription. The stone, which was 7 ft. long and 18 inches wide, tapered to 14 inches wide and 7 inches thick. (1)

Shaft now stands at the south side of the north aisle at SE7714 1298, an adjacent board dates the find C.685. (3)
Full description and assessment of the stone, which is an early-mid 10th century sandstone cross shaft. All four faces are decorated.
The runic inscription is in Old English and reads:
