Summary : Chantry of St Mary and St Katherine - poss site
More information : SE 78350387. Reported dug up in the yard of 'The King's Head', now
demolished. "Fifty figures of angels, saints, martyrs, and bishops"
(a). These may be connected with the site of a chantry founded by
Lord Mowbray in 1344 dedicated to St Mary and St Katherine (b). An
alabaster figure from Epworth in Lincoln Museum, acc no: 465.11,
probably of a notary or scrivener and dated by its style of clothing
to circa mid 15 century, may be one of those from the King's Head (c).(1)
