A homestead moat - surveyed at 1/2500. (2)

Condition unchanged. (3)

May be lodge to Eshfield Park, but this `improved' by Earl of Lancaster and let to `diverse' tenants before 1322. Not in village. Free tenant or park lodge. (4)

A medieval moat is visible as an earthwork on air photographs. It is centred at SE 6318 1289. The moat measures 70m x 41m and is formed by a 3-11m wide ditch that is sub-rectangular in plan.
