Summary : Roman tiles, spindle whorls, pottery vessels and mortar found pre 1912; possible villa site?
More information : Between the roads (Wethercote Land, Kirby Ley and Ing Lane) in Cold Kirby are 'square spaces' in which Roman tiles and spindle whorls have been found. Pieces of Roman pottery, fragments of vessels and also Roman mortar have been found by Mr Saunders. (The roads Wethercote Land, Kirby Ley and Ing Lane were not located on OS plans). (1) Nothing visible on OS AP's (c). Local enquiries (b) could not locate this site nor the three roads referred to by Authy 1. No further information. (2) NK 6 Listed as a possible site of a villa. (3)
