More information : (SE 44939832) St John's Well (NR) (1) St John's Well is enclosed within a domed building of pre-Reformation date. The upper part of the roof is modern. Formerly a pin well. (2) A small ashlar spring-house with a pitched roof, similar to the two immediately E of the precinct wall of Mount Grace Priory (SE 49 NW 5). Published survey (25") correct. (3)
The former Royal Commisssion on Historic Monuments in England (RCHME) produced drawing surveys of Mount grace Priory in the 1990s. (4-9)
St John's Well (SE 4494 9834 FCE) is one of a number of wells along the eastern side of Mount Grace Priory SE 49 NW 5 that supplied the cloisters with water. St John's Well lies 70m to the south of the priory, the spring is enclosed by a small, stone roofed building with a wooden door on its northern side. The structure lies within the area of the scheduled monument and is in fair condition. (10)
