More information : A grange of Byland Abbey was at Cundall (SE 4272). In 1235 the Abbot was granted a licence to establish a fishery in the river between the mill of Fawdington and the 'water called Lowysbek', which is probably the tiny stream flowing into the Swale to the north of Fawdington. Licence to establish a fish pool opposite 'Cambesheved' was also received. (1) |
