ST MARTINS PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Founded by Richard Mauleverer circa 1100 as a Benedictine cell of the Holy Trinity, York, but was made subject to Marmoutier Abbey circa 1110. The priory was granted to King's College, Cambridge circa 1414. It has been suggested that the foundation of the priory is associated with the early 12th century rebuilding of St. Martin's church.
