Summary : Dominican Friary founded in 1245 at Fugglestone; the Dominicans removed to Fisherton Anger in 1281, but the Fugglestone site was retained as a cell until its dissolution in 1538. At least some of the building was still extant when recorded by J Buckler in the early 19th century with the appearance of conversion to domestic use.
More information : The Dominicans founded a house at Fugglestone in 1245, removing to Fisherton Anger in 1281. The Fugglestone site, however, continued in use as a cell of the Fisherton Anger foundation until its dissolution in 1538. (1) Recorded by the artist J Buckler in the early 19th century, showing a building apparently converted to domestic use. (2)
