Brierley Manor contains a buttress on the N. side and a spiral
staircase in an oblong projection, which provide evidence of a
pre-Reformation building. (2)

Apart from the features mentioned by Pevsner, the house presents
a modern appearance externally. See G.P's AO/64/251/1 for NW
aspect, and AO/58/298/6 for staircase projection. (3)
