The present buildings at Prendwick contain no traces of antiquity, and the owner had no knowledge of the former existence of a tower there. The site of the tower could not be identified and local enquiries revealed no significant field names. (2)
Not dealt with by RCHME as a part of the SE Cheviots Project. (3)
The tower was built by George Aldye (or Alder) between 1535-40 and terminally damaged in a raid in force by the Scots in 1587. Its location is unknown. (4,5) |
