More information : [SE 3066 3697] Roman Altar found A.D. 1879 [T.I.] [Note - O.N.B. says found about 1879] (1) A Roman altar was found in 1880 when demolishing a building to enlarge the Chapeltown burial ground. It measures 18 ins. by 8 ins. An altar, now in Leeds Museum and listed by Haverfield, is considered by Wright to be the same one. (2-3) Published find-spot not confirmed, Leeds City Museum have two Roman altars in their reserve collection at Farnley Hall, but without details of provenance. (4)
